1.4 GPA

Is a 1.4 GPA good?

High School Students:

If you’re in high school and plan to attend college you will need to work to bring your 1.4 GPA up by several points.  More accredited institutions require a 3.0 GPA on your application.  Don’t give up yet though, there are many ways to raise your GPA and it’s possible if you work hard and stay consistent.

College Students:

If you’re a college student and plan on attending graduate school, a 1.4 GPA simply won’t get you in. You’ll need a solid GPA to show you are ready to take the next step in your studies.  Read on to find out how to make it happen.

How can I raise my 1.4 GPA?

Now that you know where you stand it’s a good idea to think about ways to raise your GPA.

  1. Start Early: It’s a good idea to check your grades regularly.  It takes time to raise a 1.4 GPA so you’ll want to start early.  Set a calendar reminder to check your grades each week and see how you’re progressing.
  2. Make Time To Study: Set aside time in your schedule to study for each subject.  You may want to join a study group or even hire a tutor.  Having this time set aside regularly will help you stay on track and on top of improving your GPA.
  3. Focus on Your Lowest Grades: It can feel overwhelming to raise your GPA so find your lowest grades and start there.  If you’re not sure how to raise your grades in those classes get in touch with your teacher and ask for suggestions.
