Is a 1.3 GPA good?

High School Students:

If you’re in high school and plan to attend college you will need to raise your 1.3 GPA by several points.  More accredited institutions require a 3.0 GPA on your application.  Don’t lose heart though, there are many ways to raise your GPA and it’s possible with hard work and dedication.

College Students:

If you’re a college student and plan on attending graduate school, a 1.3 GPA simply will not cut it. You’ll need a solid GPA to show you are serious about your studies.  Read on to find out how to make it happen.

How can I raise my 1.3 GPA?

Now that you know where you stand it’s a good idea to think about ways to raise your GPA.

  1. Focus: First of all, you should focus on areas in which you are struggling.  Identify subjects that give you trouble and work on bringing those grades up.  It’s a good idea to identify your toughest classes and find ways to get help.
  2. Study regularly: You can hire a tutor or join a study group.  Block off time to study every day – be consistent and work hard giving each assignment the time it needs.
  3. Stay Organized: Find a way to keep yourself organized – knowing when assignments are due and turning them in on time will go a long way.

Know your limits: It’s also important to know your limits.  Don’t take unnecessary courses you predict will be a challenge.
