Wake Forest GPA Calculator

Use this Wake Forest University GPA calculator to estimate your
undergraduate cumulative GPA on Wake Forest's 4.00 plus/minus scale,
project how planned courses could change it, or find the average you
need for a target GPA. It also handles pass/fail and transfer-course
exclusions and can estimate ordinary eligible repeats where the higher
grade replaces the lower one in GPA.

How to use the Wake Forest GPA calculator

Enter your previous Wake Forest GPA and GPA-bearing credit hours if you
want a cumulative estimate, then add completed Wake Forest courses with
their credit hours and final grades. Add planned courses to see a
projected GPA, or use the target tool to estimate the average needed
over future credit hours.

Important: This calculator is for the standard undergraduate
record in Wake Forest College and the undergraduate School of
Business. Graduate, Divinity, Professional Studies, and other separate
records can use different grading or academic-progress rules.

Wake Forest GPA scale

Grade Grade points per credit hour

A 4.00
A- 3.67
B+ 3.33
B 3.00
B- 2.67
C+ 2.33
C 2.00
C- 1.67
D+ 1.33
D 1.00
D- 0.67
F 0.00

A standard F contributes zero grade points but its credit hours remain
in the GPA denominator. An unresolved I or NR has no GPA impact until it
is replaced by a final grade.

Pass/fail courses

Wake Forest excludes pass/fail courses from the GPA whether the student
passes or fails. In the calculator, choose the Wake Forest pass/fail
course
type rather than entering a pass/fail F as a standard graded F.

How Wake Forest calculates GPA

For standard graded courses, multiply each course’s credit hours by its
grade-point value, add the grade points, and divide by the total
GPA-bearing credit hours.

For example, a 3-credit A- earns 11.01 grade points and a 3-credit B+
earns 9.99. Together, 21.00 grade points ÷ 6 credit hours = 3.500.

Repeating a course at Wake Forest

An ordinary Wake Forest course may be repeated at Wake Forest when the
original grade is C- or lower. Both grades stay on the transcript, but
the course normally counts once for credit and the cumulative GPA uses
the highest grade received.

Calculator limitation: Do not use the ordinary Repeat Impact
estimate for an irreplaceable F imposed through the honor system.
That F remains in the cumulative GPA even after a successful repeat,
so the situation needs manual review.

Do transfer grades count in Wake Forest GPA?

No. Accepted transfer credit may count toward degree hours, but grades
from other institutions do not enter the Wake Forest cumulative GPA. In
the calculator, use the External transfer credit course type so
those hours and grades are excluded from the GPA estimate.

Academic standing, graduation, and financial aid

These thresholds answer different questions and should not be treated as
interchangeable GPA targets.

Purpose Published undergraduate standard

Continuation, fewer than 30 hours Minimum cumulative GPA 1.60
passed

Continuation, 30–59 hours passed 1.70

Continuation, 60–89 hours passed 1.80

Continuation, 90+ hours passed 1.90

Undergraduate graduation Minimum 2.0 cumulative Wake Forest
GPA

Dean’s List 3.4+ semester GPA, full-time
degree-seeking, no grade below C

Financial-aid pace At least 67% of attempted hours,
plus the applicable cumulative GPA
standard

Wake Forest also publishes a semester rule under which earning six or
fewer grade points can lead to suspension. Academic standing and aid
decisions depend on the full policy, not just the calculator result.

Wake Forest Latin honors

For the Class of 2024 forward, Wake Forest awards Latin honors by
graduating-class percentile rather than a permanent GPA cutoff: the top
5% receive summa cum laude, the next 10% magna cum laude, and the next
15% cum laude. The Registrar publishes class-specific GPA cutoffs, so a
prior year’s number should not be treated as a guaranteed future
threshold.

Frequently asked questions

Does Wake Forest use a 4.0 GPA scale?

Yes. The standard undergraduate scale tops out at 4.00 for an A and uses
plus/minus values such as 3.67 for A- and 3.33 for B+.

Does Wake Forest have an A+ grade worth more than 4.0?

The published undergraduate final-grade scale lists A as the highest
grade at 4.00; it does not list an A+ above 4.00.

Does pass/fail affect Wake Forest GPA?

No. Courses taken on a pass/fail basis are excluded from GPA whether
passed or failed, although degree-credit rules are separate.

Does an F count in Wake Forest GPA?

A standard graded F counts as 0.00 grade points and remains GPA-bearing.
A failing outcome in a pass/fail course is different because the
pass/fail course is excluded from GPA.

Can I repeat a course to replace a low grade?

For an ordinary Wake Forest course originally graded C- or lower, you
may repeat it at Wake Forest and the cumulative GPA uses the highest
grade received. The irreplaceable honor-code F exception does not follow
that ordinary replacement treatment.

Do transfer grades affect my Wake Forest GPA?

No. Wake Forest accepts eligible transfer credit, but the external
grades do not affect the Wake Forest cumulative GPA.

What GPA do I need to graduate from Wake Forest?

The general undergraduate degree requirement is a minimum 2.0 cumulative
GPA on Wake Forest work. Individual majors or the School of Business can
also have program requirements that should be checked separately.

Is there a minimum GPA for Wake Forest admission?

Wake Forest states that it does not require a minimum or average GPA for
first-year admission and does not standardize applicant GPAs. That
admissions context is separate from the GPA earned after enrolling.
