A 3-credit A earns 12.0 quality points; a 3-credit B earns 9.0. Together, 21 quality points divided by 6 credits gives a 3.500 GPA.

Which CU Boulder Grades Count in GPA?

Important: “Excluded from GPA” does not mean a course has no effect on degree progress, attempted-credit totals, financial-aid pace, or another academic requirement. Those rules can use different definitions.
How to Calculate Your CU Boulder GPA

CU Boulder Grade Replacement and Repeated Courses
CU Boulder can automatically apply grade replacement to eligible repeated courses, but the rule is conditional. For undergraduate students, the most recent prior grade generally must be C- or lower, the course and attempts must meet the policy requirements, and the latest grade must be the same as or better than the prior eligible grade.
If the latest grade is lower, grade replacement is not applied and both attempts are used in cumulative and major GPA calculations. Courses that are repeatable for credit, certain non-letter-graded attempts, academic-dishonesty grades and other exceptions can be ineligible. Colorado Law students are not covered by this grade-replacement policy.

The general baccalaureate minimum is also a 2.00 GPA, but individual colleges, majors and programs may require higher GPAs or separate major/course minimums. A calculator result therefore cannot determine whether every graduation requirement is satisfied.
Financial Aid GPA Is a Separate Check
CU Boulder’s federal financial-aid satisfactory academic progress policy uses a 2.00 GPA standard for undergraduates and a 3.00 standard for graduate and doctoral students, along with a required completion pace. Repeat coursework also has specific SAP treatment.
That means a student can have questions about institutional GPA, academic standing and financial-aid eligibility at the same time, but those are not interchangeable calculations.
CU Boulder Transfer Admission GPA Requirements
Transfer admission does not use one university-wide GPA cutoff for every school. Current published criteria vary by destination program; for example, Arts & Sciences lists a 2.5 GPA criterion, while Leeds School of Business lists 3.2, with additional prerequisites in some programs.
