Mizzou GPA Calculator

Use this Mizzou GPA calculator to estimate your University of Missouri GPA on the official 4.0 plus/minus scale. Enter completed courses for a current or cumulative estimate, add planned classes to project your GPA, or set a target GPA. The calculator also reflects Mizzou's treatment of S/U grades and separates UM-System coursework from ordinary external transfer credit.

How to use the Mizzou GPA calculator

Enter each completed course’s credit hours and final grade. If you already have a cumulative GPA, you can also enter your previous GPA and the GPA-bearing hours behind it, then add only courses that are not already included in that baseline.

Use Planned Courses to see an estimated future cumulative GPA. The target tool can estimate the average grade points you would need over a chosen number of future credit hours. If the required average is above 4.0, the target is not reachable within those hours on Mizzou’s standard scale.

Important: Mizzou repeat GPA adjustment is not automatic. The calculator does not automate Repeat Impact because the university requires a request and applies rules that depend on the attempts involved.

Mizzou grading scale

Mizzou uses a 4.0 scale with plus and minus grades. An A+ is worth 4.0, not more than 4.0.

GradeGrade points
A+4.0
A4.0
A-3.7
B+3.3
B3.0
B-2.7
C+2.3
C2.0
C-1.7
D+1.3
D1.0
D-0.7
F0.0

S, U, H, W, NR, and I do not enter the GPA calculation. An F is different: it contributes zero grade points, but its GPA-bearing credit hours remain in the denominator.

How Mizzou calculates GPA

Mizzou calculates GPA by dividing total quality points by total GPA-bearing credit hours.

GPA = total quality points ÷ GPA credit hours

For example, a 3-credit A earns 12 quality points and a 3-credit B earns 9. Together, that is 21 quality points across 6 credit hours, for a 3.500 GPA.

Your transcript or academic record in myZou controls the official result. A planning estimate can differ if your previous GPA was entered with rounded numbers or if a course has a special record treatment.

S/U, incomplete, withdrawal, and other non-GPA marks

An S earns credit but does not affect GPA. A U does not affect GPA and does not earn academic credit. W, NR, I, and H are also excluded from GPA.

That makes an F especially important to enter correctly. F is a zero-point GPA grade, while U is excluded from GPA.

Repeating a course at Mizzou

Mizzou’s undergraduate repeat adjustment is request-based rather than automatic. Under the current Registrar policy, an initial C-, D+, D, D-, or F may be eligible for GPA adjustment after a repeat, but the student must submit the required request.

The policy also has multi-attempt rules: only one previous attempt may be replaced, later attempts remain in GPA calculations, and repeatable-for-credit courses are not eligible for the adjustment. Because those rules go beyond a simple grade-replacement estimate, use the Registrar’s repeat/GPA-adjustment process for repeat planning rather than treating the calculator as an official repeat decision.

Transfer courses and the Mizzou GPA of record

Mizzou’s undergraduate GPA of record can include coursework from other University of Missouri System campuses. If you are entering UM-System coursework that is part of your GPA of record, use the UM-System course option and the posted grade and credit hours.

Ordinary external transfer credit is different. Accepted transfer courses from non-UM institutions can apply toward degree requirements without being treated as Mizzou GPA-bearing coursework in this calculator. Always check your evaluated record when you are unsure how a transferred course was posted.

Academic standing and financial-aid GPA are not the same rule

For general undergraduate academic standing, continuing students are in good standing when both the most recent term GPA and cumulative GPA are at least 2.0. Students can move through academic notice, warning, and dismissal statuses when term or cumulative performance remains below that level.

Financial-aid satisfactory academic progress uses separate standards. The current Mizzou SAP policy sets a minimum cumulative GPA of 1.67 for undergraduates with fewer than 60 attempted hours and 2.0 at 60 or more hours, along with a 66.67% completion-rate requirement and maximum-timeframe rules. Graduate and professional students have different standards.

Mizzou Latin honors

Campus-wide undergraduate Latin honors use the GPA of record and require at least 30 credit hours of MU-authored coursework.

HonorGPA
Cum laude3.600–3.799
Magna cum laude3.800–3.899
Summa cum laude3.900–4.000

Programs can have additional honors or progression requirements, so do not use these ranges as substitutes for a major, college, or professional-school rule.

Graduate and professional programs

Graduate students use the same A/B/C plus-minus point values, but graduate grading rules differ: D-range grades are not awarded, and graduate academic progress generally centers on maintaining a 3.0 cumulative average. This calculator profile is designed for the standard undergraduate GPA of record.

Medicine, Law, and Veterinary Medicine have separate academic and financial-aid standards. Students in those programs should use their school’s official record and policies rather than applying the undergraduate calculator rules automatically.

Mizzou GPA FAQs

Is an A+ worth 4.3 at Mizzou?

No. A+ and A are both worth 4.0 grade points per credit hour at Mizzou.

Does an F count in my Mizzou GPA?

Yes. An F is worth 0 grade points, and its GPA-bearing credit hours still count in the GPA denominator.

Does a U hurt my GPA?

A U does not enter the Mizzou GPA calculation. It also does not earn academic credit, so it can still matter for degree progress and financial-aid pace.

Does Mizzou replace a repeated grade automatically?

No. The undergraduate repeat GPA adjustment requires a student request after the repeat, and eligibility depends on the grades and attempts involved.

Do transfer grades count in my Mizzou GPA?

UM-System coursework can be included in the undergraduate GPA of record. Ordinary external transfer credit from a non-UM institution should not automatically be entered as Mizzou GPA-bearing coursework.

What GPA is good academic standing at Mizzou?
